Avon Connecticut, July 24, 2012: Avon Health Center, a skilled nursing facility providing short-term health and rehabilitation and long-term care services, is pleased to announce that it has earned a 5-Star Rating from the Centers for Medicare Services (CMS). The rating is Medicare’s highest for skilled nursing facilities.
“All of our staff deserve credit for this honor,” said the Administrator of Avon Health Center. “The combined efforts of our nursing staff, dietary, maintenance, laundry, housekeeping and therapy departments have worked very hard to create the high quality care and services that result in a top rating by Medicare.”
The rating system was created to help consumers evaluate the quality of care and services provided by nursing homes. The Medicare’s overall 5-Star Rating for each facility comes from the ratings of categories of Health Inspections, Staff and Quality Measures. The rating system is based on the following system: 1 Star = much below average, 2 Stars = below average, 3 Stars = average, 4 Stars = above average and 5 Stars = much above average.
The Quality Measures rating evaluates certain aspects of nursing home care and includes such factors as falls, pain, weight loss, infections and wounds. The Staffing rating evaluates the level of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants and Therapists. The staffing hours are reported by the nursing home into a measure that shows the number of staff hours per resident per day.
“Everyone at Avon Health Center plans to work very hard to maintain our 5-Star rating, we are committed to providing the highest quality care to our residents and their families.”
